Planning
How a plan is put together.
Protection comes first, then the way you pay, then the growth that sits alongside it, and finally a year-by-year sheet you can check for yourself. This page takes each step in turn.

Two parts that behave differently, kept in one view.
Anil Rattan has spent 28 years as a financial planner. His work combines two pieces, life insurance and mutual funds, and the interesting part is how they are made to fit together.
Life insurance gives your family protection and builds a base of savings. Mutual funds give your money the chance to grow over the long term. When they are planned together, you can see the whole picture on one page instead of juggling separate products that were never designed to fit.
It is worth knowing that the two behave differently. Life insurance benefits depend on the terms of the policy you hold. Mutual funds are subject to market risk, so their value can go up or down. A good plan keeps both in view, and Anil walks you through each before anything is signed.
Choose a premium you can keep paying.
Once the cover is clear, the next decision is how you would like to pay. Choose an option to read more.
The premium is a very small amount. The plan is built so that what you pay each time stays modest and easy to keep up, which matters far more over the years than an ambitious figure you struggle to sustain.
The premium is paid for a very short period. You put in your contributions over a limited number of years, and once those years are complete, nothing more is due from you.
Whichever way suits you, Anil then looks at what the plan gives back: a lifetime pension, and the amounts that mature over the life of the policy.
Rs 320 a day, for 12 years, towards a crore.
This is one life insurance illustration. The premium in it also qualifies for a tax rebate. It shows how a modest, regular amount paid for a limited number of years can build towards a much larger figure. It is an example to help you picture the idea, not a promise.
